Our Philosophy

THE BRICMONT LAW FIRM
Denver, Colorado Lawyer

Robert J. Bricmont, Jr., A Professional Corporation  the predecessor to the Bricmont Law Firm  was established in 1994.  For our first seven years, we were located at 1700 Broadway, in the heart of downtown Denver, Colorado.  In 2001, the firm purchased, renovated and converted an old Victorian property at 1763 Franklin Street in Denver’s vibrant Uptown neighborhood (near downtown but not in it).   The firm has operated at its present location since January 1, 2002.

The Bricmont Law Firm is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell* and serves a diverse base of individuals and small businesses.  Although our  family law cases represent a significant portion of our practice, attorney Robert Bricmont also represents numerous small businesses, several of which are construction related.  In addition, we have handled numerous personal injury, negligence and professional (medical and legal) malpractice cases.  We also serve as a Colorado closing agent for ServiceLink, Inc., a national real estate servicing company.

Our Commitment to You

The Bricmont Law Firm is known for aggressive representation of clients, and is regarded for its skills both at the negotiation table and in the courtroom.  We are a results-oriented firm, with the goal of solving problems.  Our family law practice is built upon six fundamental success principles:

Thorough Preparation.

There is no substitute for thorough preparation. Whether it is providing a detailed explanation on a client’s financial affidavit, or utilizing the discovery process to ascertain the true nature and extent of your spouse’s finances, we pride ourselves on attention to detail and on being fully prepared.  We strive to always know your case better than our opponent does.

This is particularly important in the negotiation and settlement phase of the case, as well as if and when we have to go to court.  Our exhibits are always organized, we interview the witnesses in advance (not in the hallway) and we provide the judge with copies of relevant cases and statutes to help the court reach the result for which we are advocating.  We know every detail of your case, and we use that superior knowledge to gain a competitive advantage.  Our settlement documents are precisely written and attempt to address even unforeseen scenarios, so as to eliminate the need for future modifications and to save you money in the long run.

Woody Allen once said “80% of being successful is showing up.”  Mr. Allen was wrong.  To be successful, you’ve got to be prepared!

Honest Communication.

Straightforward communication between client and lawyer is another hallmark of the Bricmont Law Firm.  You should never have to call and ask ‘What’s going on with my case?’  Keeping you fully informed and obtaining your timely input throughout the case is crucial.  We make every effort to keep you up to date as your case progresses AND to actively listen to your concerns and obtain your regular input before making any important decision.  During the pendency of your case, we will provide you with copies of everything received by our office–  whether from the opposing party, opposing counsel, an expert witness or the court itself, as well as copies of any paperwork or correspondence we send out on your behalf.  In this way you can follow exactly what’s going on in your case.  We also provide you with periodic updates as your case progresses and we are of course available by telephone, e-mail and facsimile.  We strive to return all telephone calls within two hours. You deserve to be fully informed and to have easy access to your attorney.

Effective Advocacy.

At the Bricmont Law Firm, we work hard to ensure that our clients’ interests are protected and their objectives are achieved.  We accomplish this by providing vigorous representation, and by doing what it takes to achieve the best possible outcome in each and every case.  Our client testimonials bear this out.  Simply put, our focus is on solving the problem and getting the results you want.  To each case we bring a comprehensive knowledge of the law, excellent written and oral advocacy, and a proven ability to be successful–  and persuasive–  in the courtroom.  Effective advocacy is not taught in law school; it is the result of years of experience.  We also believe that effective advocacy requires making every effort to achieve your goals with a minimum of acrimony.  Make no mistake about it–  sometimes you have to play hardball.  But at the Bricmont Law Firm we also pride ourselves on being respectful of the other party, the opposing attorney, and the Court–  while advocating forcefully for you and presenting your case in a compelling manner.  In appropriate cases (and always with your prior approval) we negotiate–  from a position of knowledge and strength–  as vigorously as we litigate.

Timely Case Management.

We make a plan, we design a strategy. We keep the case moving forward so you  will not be in "limbo" unnecessarily. We maintain momentum in the case, for  effective resolution.

Sound Advice.

Our experience and attention to your desired outcome are the basis for the  guidance we provide.

Fair and Accurate Billing.

Believe it or not, our clients often commend us on the billing statements we send out at the end of each month.  This happens for at least two reasons.  First, we bill in tenths of an hour (or 6-minute increments)  not in quarters of an hour (15-minute increments).  If you have a five-minute telephone conversation with the Bricmont Law Firm, that call will show up on your bill as 0.1 hours.  With the other guys, that same five-minute phone call will often be billed to you as .25 hours  because that’s the smallest increment of time their billing system recognizes.  The difference in cost is huge, and over the course of a dissolution proceeding, it can really add up.

We provide our clients with regular and detailed monthly billing statements. Unlike law firms that send out a bill each month that simply says “For Legal Services Rendered, pay XYZ.”  At the Bricmont Law Firm, our monthly statements show:  the date work was performed on your case; the person who performed the work; the specific nature of the work performed; the amount of time incurred on a given date; the amount of attorney's fees resulting from the work performed on a given date; the total time (in hours and tenths of hours) spent during a given month; and the total amount of attorney's fees associated with the work performed during a given month.  Costs and out-of-pocket expenses are detailed in the same way.

If you ever have any questions or comments about the nature of services provided, or about any aspect of your monthly billing statement, please bring the matter directly to our attention.  We will endeavor to promptly resolve any situation to your complete satisfaction.
